GAS PRICES UP FROM LAST WEEK FOR CHRISTMAS

  

Christmastime gas prices around the state are up from this time a week ago.

According to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch, the average for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel is $2.64, which is up 2 cents from last week.  The price is the same as a month ago and 4 cents cheaper than a year ago.

In Brenham, the average price comes out to $2.58, with a low of $2.42 and a high of $3.00. 

Surveying the major metropolitan areas in Texas, drivers in El Paso are paying the most on average per gallon at $2.81, while drivers in Lubbock are paying the least at $2.43.

The national average price per gallon is $3.04, which is a penny more expensive than this time last week, one cent less than this time last month, and 8 cents cheaper than this time last year.

AAA Texas predicts 9.1 million Texans will be traveling 50 miles or more during the year-end holiday period.
