NUMEROUS CALLS MONDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.
The Brenham Fire Department had a very busy Monday.
Nearing 10:45 a.m., the fire department was called out to Kruse Village, 1700 East Stone Street, for a fire alarm. Upon arrival, firefighters found that the alarm was caused by someone cooking.
The department received another fire alarm call to Kruse Village around 11:15 a.m. This time, it was determined a bad smoke detector caused the alarm to go off. Personnel contacted building maintenance and advised them what they had found before returning to service.
Approaching 11:30 a.m., BFD members were dispatched to a fire alarm at the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South. Management reset the alarm prior to firefighters making location.
At 12:30 p.m., units received a report of a gas odor at the Olde Oaks Apartments, 1500 Farewell Street. Firefighters and the City of Brenham Gas Department checked the area for a leak or smell, and after investigation, the gas department released the fire department from the scene.
Close to 12:45 p.m., the department went out to a fire alarm at 2650 South Day Street and discovered the alarm was caused by a busted sprinkler system pipe. Firefighters advised management what they had found and told them to contact a sprinkler system company.
Shortly after 3 p.m., another fire alarm was reported at a home in the 700 block of Durden Street. There, units found a bad smoke detector and advised the homeowner to contact their alarm company.
At 3:15 p.m., the fire department was dispatched for a call of a structure fire at a home in the 1200 block of East Tom Green Street. Firefighters made location to find nothing showing from the exterior and did not find any smoke inside of the house, but after checking the outside, they discovered the next-door house had a fire pit burning in the back of the house, causing the smell of smoke. Units told the resident what they found and cleared the scene.
A few minutes shy of 4:45 p.m., personnel received a report of a gas odor at a home in the 800 block of West Alamo Street. Firefighters and the city gas department checked the area for a leak or smell, and after investigation, the gas department released the fire department from the scene.
Shortly past 4:45 p.m., units were called back out to the Brenham State Supported Living Center for another fire alarm. They made location to find a pull station activated. Management had the alarm reset prior to firefighters arriving.
Just after 8:45 p.m., firefighters went out to the 300 block of Clayton Drive for community relations to help a resident with their stove. The department checked the stove and found no issues, so they cleared the scene.
Close to midnight, BFD members were sent out to the 500 block of East Stone Street for a power line down. Upon arrival, they discovered two electrical lines down that were arcing. The fire department stood by until the City of Brenham Electrical Department made location and released firefighters from the call.
The fire department also responded to a call this (Tuesday) morning in the 1000 block of Lawndale Avenue. Firefighters were dispatched at 5:15 a.m. for a rescue call and found a person stuck inside of a room. Units gained access and got the patient out of the room before returning to service.
