Story by Joe Alberico, Blinn College Sports Information
The Blinn College softball team fell to Tyler Junior College in both ends of a doubleheader Saturday in Tyler, Texas.
The Apaches picked up the sweep over the Buccaneers 11-1 and 13-2.
Blinn is now 2-10 overall this season.
The Bucs grabbed an early lead in both ends of the twin bill, but the Apache offense came storming back to upend Blinn.
In game one, the Bucs struck first in the top of the third inning on an RBI single off the bat of freshman Caden Wiese, which scored freshman Halle Scheel.
Tyler answered with 10 runs in the bottom of the frame.
Blinn finished with seven hits, led by a 3-for-3 showing for Scheel and a two-hit game from sophomore Darian DeLeon.
Sophomore pitcher Paige Bunting started in the circle for the Bucs and took the loss.
In game two, Blinn got going in the first inning when Wiese drilled a double to center field to bring Scheel home.
Tyler took the lead with a four-run second and tacked on two in the third before the Bucs struck back in the fourth. Bucs freshman Brynn Gallamore plated freshman Annie Beckendorf with a sacrifice fly.
Blinn tallied four hits.
Gallamore started the game in the circle for the Bucs and took the loss.
Blinn's season continues with a road trip to Navarro College at noon on Friday in Corsicana.
