BRENHAM GOLF TEAMS FINISH SECOND ONE DAY ONE AT SPRING INVITATIONAL

The Brenham Cub and Cubette Golf Teams both finished in second place on day one of the Brenham Varsity Spring Invitational at the Brenham Country Club today (Friday).

For the Cubettes, they finished with a team score of 354, which places them six strokes behind Kingwood for first place going into the second day tomorrow (Saturday).

Sophia Workman (Jr.) finished the day in second place with a 76, which is just one stroke off the individual lead. Raylea Kunkel (Fr.) is right behind her in third place with a 77, which is just two strokes away from first. Mallory Winklemann (Fr.) finished with a 98, which puts her in a tie for 14th overall. Rounding out the Cubette individual scores for the day were Caroline Sawyer (Fr.) with a 103, and Addison Siemsglusz (Fr.) with a 111.

Meanwhile, the Cubs finished with a team score of 325, which places them 13 strokes behind College Station for first place.

Individually, Holton Gillentine (Fr.) is tied for sixth with a 77. Luke Alford (Fr.) is tied for ninth with an 80. Caleb Klussman (So.) is in 13th place with an 83. Rounding out the Cubs scores, Bryce Siemsglusz (Fr.) finished with an 85, and Levi Dupont (Jr.) had a 93.

The tournaments continue tomorrow (Saturday) at the Brenham Country Club with a 7:30am shotgun start.

On a side note, a rare feat was accomplished by two individuals. Campbell Zurovec of Kingwood Park and Garrett Hille of Maypearl each had a hole-in-one. In a case of lightning striking twice in the same place, both hole-in-ones came on the same hole, #12.
