CUBETTES DEFEAT GIDDINGS 5-3 IN LAST NON-DISTRICT GAME

The swirling winds played havoc on both sides last (Monday) night, but the Brenham Cubettes were able to get the 5-3 victory over the Giddings Buffaloes in the final non-district game on the schedule.

The winds were at 20 mph, while some gusts got up to 30 mph.

Avery Maurer reached base on a walk to lead-off the game. On a throwing error, Maurer was able to get all the way to third base. She later came home on an RBI single by Kinley Antkowiak. Kylie Baker reached on an error. Aldyn Jaks followed with an RBI single to make it 2-0 Cubettes. Two batters later, Stella Landry added a two-run single to increase the Brenham lead to 4-0.

The Cubettes got an additional run in the top of the second inning on a solo homer by McKenzie Tiemann to increase the lead to 5-0.

Giddings cut the lead to 5-3 on a three-run homer by Abigail Snyder in the bottom of the fifth.

Kylie Baker got the win pitching five no-hit innings in the circle.

Next up for the Cubettes, they will return to district play on Friday night against Montgomery. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30pm KWHI will have live coverage beginning with the pregame at 6:05pm.
