GAS PRICES UP FROM LAST WEEK TO START SPRING BREAK

  

Gas prices heading into Spring Break are up from this time a week ago.

According to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch, the statewide average for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel is $2.71, which is up 5 cents from last week.  However, the price is a penny cheaper than the average last month and 23 cents less than this time last year.

In Brenham, the average price sits at $2.67, with a low of $2.50 and a high of $3.00.

Surveying the metropolitan areas in Texas, drivers in El Paso are paying the most on average at $2.90 per gallon, while drivers in the Brownsville-Harlingen and McAllen-Edinburg-Mission areas are spending the least at $2.44.

Nationwide, the price per gallon of fuel comes out to $3.09, 1 cent less than a week ago, 4 cents less than last month and 31 cents cheaper than a year ago.
