WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO SUBMIT ELECTION SECURITY GRANT APPLICATION

Washington County Commissioners plan to proceed with submitting an elections grant application at what figures to be a brief meeting on Tuesday.

The court will vote on a resolution authorizing the submission of the 2025 Help America Vote Act (HAVA) election security grant application.  The grant, agreed upon between the county and the Texas Secretary of State, will be administered in accordance with applicable federal and state laws.

The Help America Vote Act of 2002 provides federal funds to states and territories to improve voting systems and the administration of federal elections.  The grant programs are managed by the Election Assistance Commission.

In the only other non-routine action items on the agenda, commissioners will consider approving a temporary full-time administrative assistant in the Human Resources office and read a proclamation declaring the month of June as Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month in the county.

Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse.
