SHERIFF’S OFFICE ARRESTS FIVE ON CHARGES INCLUDING CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE POSSESSION, DWI
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reported five arrests between Friday and early this (Monday) morning.
At 4:45 p.m. Friday, Corporal Zavala, with the assistance of Brenham police, located a parole violator in the 300 block of Lillie Lange Road. 57-year-old Thomas Luna Jr. of Brenham was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail without incident for a parole warrant of Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1, 1-4 Grams.
Just after 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Corporal Salinas conducted a traffic stop for a license plate light violation in the 4700 block of Highway 290 East. According to the sheriff’s office, the driver did not have a valid driver’s license, the passenger had an active warrant, and narcotics were located during a search of the vehicle. Both occupants were taken into custody and booked at the Washington County Jail. 38-year-old Tamendreon O’Bryon Phillips of Hempstead was charged with Driving While License Invalid Enhanced, Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3, Less Than 28 Grams, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. 40-year-old Justin Jerome Hardman of Chappell Hill was arrested on a warrant for Criminal Trespass.
At 2:15 a.m. Sunday, Corporal Zavala initiated a traffic stop for failure to drive in a single lane in the 900 block of East Blue Bell Road. The driver reportedly displayed signs of intoxication and was found to have an active warrant. 30-year-old Deadrius Dewayne Walker of Washington was taken to the Washington County Jail and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility.
At 3:45 a.m. today, Corporal Zavala conducted a traffic stop for a defective headlamp and no license plate light in the 4700 block of Highway 290 East. The sheriff’s office detected the odor of marijuana and reported locating narcotics during a search of the vehicle. 43-year-old David Desiderio Cantu of Selma was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail for Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3, Less Than 28 Grams, and Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz.
