BLINN COLLEGE INDUCTS 31 INTO SIGMA KAPPA DELTA
The Blinn College chapter of Sigma Kappa Delta recently inducted 31 students during a ceremony in the Brenham campus Student Center.
Sigma Kappa Delta (SKD) is recognized as the English honor society for two-year colleges. Founded in 1996 at Cottey College in Missouri, SKD provides cultural stimulation, encourages interest in literature and the English language and promotes exemplary character and fellowship among its members.
Members must maintain a grade point average above 3.0 and cannot earn a grade lower than a B in any English class. Hugo Esteban Rodriguez, a poet and writer who resides in the Houston area, spoke at this year’s induction ceremony.
“We have monthly meetings and speakers that come in and help students in their passion for English,” said Clint Hale, SKD advisor. “The group also gets involved in the community.”
