ACCIDENT, MULTIPLE FIRE ALARMS TUESDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department responded to seven calls on Tuesday.

Just before 7:45 a.m., the department was dispatched to a fire alarm at the Blinn College Student Center, 1007 Walter Schwartz Way.  Units found steam from a dishwasher had set off the fire alarm, so the alarm was reset.

Around 10:15 a.m., BFD members were called out to a fire alarm at St. Paul’s Christian Day School, 305 West Third Street.  They checked the area where the fire alarm panel was showing, but nothing was found, so they reset the alarm.

The department was called back out to St. Paul’s nearing 10:45 a.m. for another fire alarm.  Firefighters checked the area and found a bad smoke detector, which was shown to the building maintenance team.

Shortly after 2:15 p.m., members of the Brenham Fire Department and the Meyersville and Prairie Hill Volunteer Fire Departments went out to a grass fire in the 2700 block of Highway 105.  Brenham units made location to find the fire was out, and they applied water to the location where the fire was.

Approaching 7:30 p.m., units were sent out to the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South, for a fire alarm.  They discovered a washing machine belt had broken, causing the alarm to go off.

At 7:30 p.m., a crash was reported at South Jackson and West Fifth Streets.  There, the department found a two-vehicle accident and provided traffic control until law enforcement made location.

At 10:30 p.m., the fire department and City of Brenham Gas Department responded to a gas odor at a home in the 200 block of East Blue Bell Road.  After checking the area for a leak or smell, firefighters were released from the scene by the gas department.
