GRIMES COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE INVESTIGATING A SHOOTING

The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that landed one man in the hospital and another in jail on Saturday.
Around 4pm, Sheriff’s Deputies along with DPS Troopers responded to Yankee’s Tavern and Grill on FM 244 in Anderson for a report of a weapons disturbance.
According to Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell, a verbal altercation occurred inside the establishment between two groups of men.
It escalated and continued outside of the business where one of the men was shot.
Sowell said the victim was transported by AirMed to a hospital in the Woodlands for treatment of a gunshot wound. The victim is in stable condition, but the name has not yet been released.
The Sheriff’s Office arrested Antonio Jesus Castillo and transported him to the Grimes County Jail. He was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a second-degree felony.
The case remains under an active investigation.
