LIFETIME LEARNING TO HOLD AUTHOR RECEPTION AT UNITY THEATRE

(Lifetime Learning)

Lifetime Learning is hosting their annual reception for the author of the chosen book for this year’s Washington County READ program.

Author Eileen Garvin, who wrote the national best seller “The Music of Bees”, will be appearing at the event for an author talk and a dramatic reading.

The reception begins tomorrow (Tuesday) evening at 5:30pm at Unity Theatre in Brenham.

Garvin’s debut novel tells the story of three lost strangers who are thrown off course by unexpected obstacles, but steady themselves through each other and the joy and challenge of beekeeping.

Alice, a widowed, middle-aged woman, takes in two misfits as helpers for the bee-keeping hobby she hopes to turn into her life’s work.

Harry, a young man in his 20s and paroled from jail, is lost in shame and hopelessness as he wrestles to find his path in life.

Jake, a recently paralyzed eighteen-year-old, struggles to adapt to his new body and the loss of his dream as a musician, but unlike those around him, Jake’s music-trained ear can hear the music of the bees.

The reception is free to attend, and there is no registration required.
