BRENHAM FD CALLED OUT WEDNESDAY FOR ACCIDENT, RESCUE

The Brenham Fire Department responded to six calls on Wednesday.

Around 10 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to Kruse Village, 1700 East Stone Street, for a fire alarm.  Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building, and they found that a pot left on the stove caused the apartment to fill up with smoke.  They proceeded to ventilate the apartment and reset the alarm.

A few minutes before 11:15 a.m., BFD members were called out for a rescue in the 2900 block of Victory Lane, responding to a report of a child locked inside a running vehicle.  They used an unlocking tool to gain access to the vehicle.  The child was unharmed.

Right at 11:15 a.m., firefighters went out to the area of Shady Lane for a report of smoke in the area.  Upon arrival, they determined the source was coming from smoke testing being conducted.

Just before noon, the department received a report of a structure fire at a home in the 1900 block of Cena Drive.  Units found nothing showing from the outside of the home, but they did discover a light haze in the laundry room coming from a drainpipe.  The cause of the smoke was from smoke testing in the area.

Shortly after 12:45 p.m., personnel were called to the 2200 block of Highway 290 West for a transportation incident.  There, they found a two-vehicle accident.  According to the fire department, one of the drivers was complaining of chest pain from the seat belt, but refused EMS.  Units returned to service after one vehicle was removed from the roadway.

Approaching 5:45 p.m., the department was dispatched to a report of a structure fire at a home in the 800 block of Peachtree Drive.  Nothing was detected from the outside of the home, and a walkthrough found no signs of smoke or fire.
