BURTON BASEBALL SPLITS TWO GAMES AT THE SCHULENBURG
The Burton Panther Baseball Team opened up the Schulenburg Tournament by splitting their games earlier today (Thursday).
In the first game, the Schulenburg Shorthorns defeated the Panthers 5-4. All of the game's scoring was done in the first two innings.
Tyler Witt drew a walk to leadoff the game in the top of the first inning. Then, Witt stole second, and Ian Matthies brough him home with an RBI single. Rueben Rodriguez singled and Eli Jaeger walked to load the bases for Burton. Braydon Martin followed with a two-run single to score Matthies and Rodriguez. Carter Prigge came in to run for Jaeger, and scored when he and Martin executed a double steal to give the Panthers a 4-0 lead.
Schulenburg came back with five runs in the bottom of the second inning. Because of two Panther errors in the inning, only two of the five runs were earned.
Burton had a chance to tie it in the top of the fifth, but an inning-ending double play stopped their hopes of a comeback as the Shorthorns held on for the win.

In the top of the fifth, Industrial battled back with three runs to take the lead 4-2.
The Panthers loaded the bases in the bottom of the fifth, which due to the time limit, would end up being the final inning.
