WASHINGTON CO. E911 REQUESTING DONATIONS FOR PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATORS WEEK
National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is coming up April 12-18, and Washington County E911 is asking for the public’s support to help show dispatchers how much they are appreciated.
Interim E911 Director Raleigh Wellmann says the week acts as “a time to recognize the vital work of the men and women who serve as the calm voice on the other end of the line during emergencies.”
The department is seeking donations of items like plain backpacks, shirts, jackets, food, snacks, drinks, prize/drawing items, or monetary contributions that can be used throughout the week to show thanks for telecommunicators’ dedication and service.
Wellmann says the department wishes to provide small meals, snacks and appreciation bags or baskets for its 21 telecommunicators. She says, “Though they are rarely seen and often go unrecognized, they play a vital role in saving lives and supporting our community every day.”
Anyone interested in contributing can contact Wellmann by emailing raleigh.wellmann@washingtoncountytx.gov.
