FAYETTE COUNTY ENACTS A BURN BAN

  

Fayette County has become the latest of the local counties to enact a burn ban.

The Commissioners Court approved the ban to restrict outdoor burning at their meeting last week.

Residents are warned to refrain from burning anything, including kitchen trash and brush piles.

According to a press release from County Judge Dan Mueller’s office, “Dry vegetation serves as ready, highly volatile fuel for wildfires. Burning trash or brush can provide an ignition source for wildfires, which can spread quickly, destroy homes, and worst of all, endanger lives.”

The burn ban in Fayette County will remain in effect until conditions improve and fire danger has diminished.

Fire departments will be called to extinguish all fires and violators can be subject to a fine of up to $500.

Burn bans are already in place for Washington, Austin, Colorado, Waller, Grimes, and Lee Counties.

Commissioners in Brazos County are scheduled to vote on whether or not to enact a burn ban at their meeting today (Tuesday).

Meanwhile, Commissioners in Waller County will be voting on enacting a burn ban at their meeting on Wednesday.
