FEDS APPROVE ROUTE FOR HIGH SPEED TRAIN

  

 A high speed rail line route proposed to run between Dallas and Houston has been finalized, will run on a route that follows electrical transmission lines through mostly rural areas.

The company behind the high-speed rail project, Texas Central Partners, says that the advantages of following the high voltage electrical line will take the train through Harris, Waller, Grimes and Madison Counties is that they can power both trains and minimize right-of-way issues.

The trip between Dallas and Houston would take about 90 minutes, with tickets varying in price. Tickets on the higher end of the spectrum are expected to cost about the same as a plane ticket between Dallas and Houston.

The entire projected is expected to cost between $10 billion to $12 billion, with some of the money coming Japan Bank for International Cooperation, as well as private investors.
