LARGE CROWD GATHERS TO PRAY AND REMEMBER 9/11
A large crowd gathered Friday morning at the Washington County Courthouse Annex to commemorate the 14th anniversary of the attack on the World Trade Center and to pray for peace, with numerous city and county officials in attendance, and well as Washington County First Responders.
The event began at 8:30am with Reverend Randy Wells giving the opening remarks, followed by Pastor Jon Stouffer of the First United Methodist Church leading the group in prayer.
Mary Sparks led the group in the singing of God Bless America, and Washington County Commissioner Joy Fuchs also addressing the group.
Fuchs reminded the group who the real “heroes” are in our lives.
At exactly 8:48am, the exact time when the first plane hit the Twin Towers in New York City, Calvin Kossie led the group in prayer before getting the entire group together for a commemorative picture.
