FAYETTE COUNTY ARREST REPORT

  

On Wednesday afternoon around 1:30 pm Interdiction K-9 unit, Sgt. Randy Thumann observed a 2008 black Chevrolet Arcadia pull into an I-10  rest area and attempted to make a traffic stop.

According to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek, consensual contact was made as the male driver got out of the vehicle and approached Thumann’s vehicle. After interviewing the nervous driver, Thumann approached the vehicle and observed 5 passengers who also appeared to be nervous. The male driver took off on foot and Thumann and “ Lobos “ joined in a foot pursuit.

Thumann and “Lobos” detained the driver while other units responded to the scene.

The male subject was identified as 53 year old Carlos Cesar Ruiz from Uvalde. The passengers were all identified and transported to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office. The passengers consisted of 3 adult females and 2 juveniles, one male and one female.

The driver was Arrested for Smuggling of Persons and booked into the Fayette County Jail.
