WASHINGTON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS APPROVE GRANT APPLICATION

  

The Washington County Commissioners approved the Road and Bridge Department to apply for a grant in order to purchase safety equipment during their meeting this morning (Tuesday).

The court also approved the Road and Bridge Department to purchase a new one-ton cab and chassis for a patch truck from LaRoche Chevrolet for $32,465 as well as a new tractor from Washington County Tractor for $28,000. They will also discuss an order to designate a county-owned vehicle exempt from inscription requirements of the Texas Transportation Code.

Commissioners appointed Dr. William Loesh as Designated Infection Control Officer and Bryan Ruemke as Alternate Designated Infection Control Officer – these positions are required by state in case of an infectious outbreak. Neither of these positions are paid positions. Judge John Brieden explained training for these positions.

The court approved to submit a request to the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts for Washington County’s portion of funds due to unclaimed capital credits received by the Comptroller from electric cooperatives. The amount that they are applying for is not known but in past years it has been between $20-30 thousand.

County Commissioners approved fairground contracts for a concession, bull sale, graduation party, a fun run, and two dairy days.

A county owned investigator vehicle from the DA’s office was approved along with a budget line item transfer, and accounts payable.
