TWO ARRESTED FOR MULTIPLE CHARGES

  

Two people were arrested on various charges this morning after a traffic stop by Washington County Sheriff’s deputies.  According to Sheriff Otto Hanak, a passenger in a vehicle was recognized by a Sheriff’s investigator as having an outstanding 2nd Degree Felony Warrant for Delivery of a Controlled Substance, namely Methamphetamines.  35 year old Somerville resident Jeanette Kathleen Maxwell was arrested for the outstanding warrant and for Failing to Identify – Fugitive after she gave a false name to the Deputy.  The driver, 35 year old John Wayne Stewart of Somerville was also placed in custody for Driving while License Invalid and was found to have methamphetamines and brass knuckles on his person.

An inventory of the vehicle uncovered 28.2 grams of methamphetamines, several meth paraphernalia items, a .25 caliber pistol and a sawed off shotgun. Stewart and Maxwell were additionally charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance - Methamphetamines, a First Degree Felony, Felon in Possession of Firearms, Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon, and Possession of Prohibited Weapons.  In addition, Maxwell also wanted by the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office related to outstanding warrants. They were both booked into the Washington County jail where Maxwell’s bonds totaled $377,000 and Stewart’s bonds totaled $11,500.  Maxwell remains in jail while Stewart posted bond and was released.
