BURLESON COUNTY ADDRESSES LONG AMBULANCE WAITS

  

The Beaver Creek Volunteer Fire Department held a seminar Saturday for residents interested in learning life-saving skills. First Responders in Burleson County are teaching residents CPR in response to the long ambulance wait times they often face.

Residents of rural Burleson County have become familiar with long ambulance wait times, since travel for First Responders takes more time than other locations. The Beaver Creek Volunteer Fire Department aims to help the community with specific training in CPR that could be pertinent in those critical moments before the ambulance arrives.

Daniel Owens, an EMT for the area, states that there are only two ambulances for all of Burleson County. Almost half of the emergency response times in the county take more than 10 minutes. The Burleson Fire Department is currently pursuing grant money to help fix this problem.
