$4.2 MILLION APPROVED FOR WASHINGTON COUNTY ROAD WORK

  

The Texas Transportation Commission approved a program that will allocate $4.2 million for road work in Washington County over the next four years.

The work is included as part of the 2017 Unified Transportation Program (UTP). The program will see $70 billion worth of projects to meet the state’s growing transportation demands. The plan is the largest of its kind in the agency’s history that addresses capacity, maintenance and safety needs around state.

The plan targets congestion in the state’s most-populated areas and includes projects to better connect the major interstates in rural areas with local roads and highways. Also outside urban areas, the program calls for enhancing and completing interstate highways, and addressing the continuing needs within the energy sector and along hurricane evacuation routes.

Fourteen projects are listed in the Washington County as part of the plan, totaling $4,214,084 in costs. Most of the projects are for safety improvement and maintenance. There are three bridge replacements included in the plan: Coe Branch on FM 389, Indian Creek at Texas Street, and Wood Branch on FM 332.
