BLINN INVITES STUDENTS TO LEARN ABOUT CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROGRAM

  

Blinn College’s Criminal Justice Program invites students considering a career in criminal justice to attend an upcoming information session on its Brenham campus.

The information session will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 6 p.m. in the Brenham Campus Student Center’s Janis Sneed Banquet Room (map). Program Coordinator Robert Stanberry and Brenham Campus Instructor Jim Torres will lead the session and describe the program and its certificate and degree offerings. Blinn will offer prospective students the opportunity to ask questions.

With tracks designed for the traditional classroom or online, Blinn offers Associate of Arts, Associate of Applied Science, and Law Enforcement Technology degrees in criminal justice, as well as a Criminal Justice Corrections certificate. Blinn also offers a Basic Peace Officer Academy certificate through its partnership with the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service Central Texas Police Academy.

Students who complete the program are eligible for a variety of local, state and federal careers, including law enforcement, investigation, corrections operation, corrections counseling, a variety of court positions, government administration and probation. Similar careers are also available through private companies.

The Criminal Justice Program also offers established internships with Brazos Valley law enforcement and criminal justice agencies. Criminal Justice Program instructor Janet McNutt chose to become a probation officer because of an internship she landed in a probation department. Several years later, she now teaches the internship course at Blinn.
