TEXAS BRACES FOR TROPICAL SYSTEM
Brenham and Washington County could be minimally impacted later this week by a tropical system tracking towards Texas.
Tropical rains could fall along the Texas gulf coast as early as Wednesday as a tropical depression or storm is forming in the Gulf of Mexico.
As of 4 o’clock this (Tuesday) morning, the system had maximum sustained winds of 40 miles per hour with movement northwest at 8 miles per hour. A tropical storm watch is in effect from High Island Texas to Intracoastal City Louisiana.
If the system does become a tropical storm, it will be named Cindy. The current track would bring the storm onshore near the Texas-Louisiana border late Wednesday night into early Thursday morning. If that track holds, all of the bad weather will be far to the east of Brenham and Washington County.
