BLUEBONNET COOPERATIVE ELECTIONS COMING IN MAY

  

Four directors will be elected to the Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative Board of Directors on Tuesday, May 13th, at the Son’s of Herman Hall in Giddings.  Registration begins at 1:30pm and ends at 2:30pm.  The meeting starts at 2:30.

Running for the Board are Roderick L. Emanuel in district three, Russell Jurk in District four, Byron Balke in District Six and Robert Miskeska in District Seven.

Emanuel has spent 34 years in the education field before joining the  Bluebonnet Board three years ago.  He now raises Hereford cattle on the family farm off Texas 20 with his son, a senior at Bastrop High School and the third generation to work on the family farm. He holds a BA. From Southwest Texas State now known as Texas State in San Marcos before going on to get a master’s from Prairie View.

Jurk brings a professional background to hiw work on the Bluebonnet Board when he joined in 2011.  He earned his Credential Cooperative Director Certification through the National Rural Electric Cooperative’s Association. He is also the Vice-President and general manager of Bobby Lehmann, Incorporated, a Giddings based trucking company.  Jurk is also the chair of the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers.

Balke is the assistant secretary/treasurer of the Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative and has been a director since 2003.  He’s a cattle rancher and former small town shop keeper.  He is from Blieberville in Austin County.  He graduated from Southwest Texas, now Texas State,.  He also attended Blinn and played baseball there.  He had a short baseball career with the Houston Colt. .45s, before they became the Astros.

Robert Mikeska is a former Washington County Commissioner who is also a professional rancher. He has served on the Bluebonnet Board since 2008.  He is also a senior vice-president and controller of Mike Hopkins Distributing.   He has worked in banks in Bellville and Brenham. He earned a degree in finance from the University of Texas in Austin.
