BRENHAM F.D. EXTINGUISHES SMALL GRASS FIRES ON US 290

The Brenham Fire Department was called on to extinguish several small grass fires, Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to the Westwood area of Highway 290 West, just after 4:30.

They found three small grass fires along the roadside.  The department used its Polaris Ranger and Booster Truck to extinguish the fires.  Minimal damage was reported.

While the cause of the fires has not been confirmed, they believe it may have been dragging trailer chains.

The Department was called out a short time later Hollis Drive, where a gas grill was on fire in home’s back yard.

The homeowner was able to extinguish the fire and there was no damage.
