Brenham police Thursday, arrested a Burton man who allegedly tried to murder a woman almost three years ago.
Brenham police officers spotted 26-year old Randy Hudgens in the 1300 block of Prairie Lea at 3:40pm Thursday.
Washington County Sheriff’s deputies say Hudgens fled the scenew in the post midnight hours of June 16th, 2011, when three people reported they had been shot with a shotgun off Sandtown Road near Burton. Law enforcement officers knew where he was but he was not indicted until recently because the lab results finally connected him to the crime.
Gwen Mathis had been shot in the face and had to be transferred to the Scott and White Hospital in Temple. She had non-life threatening injuries and survived the attack.
Dominque Mathis and Kevin Spencer were also victims of the gunshots.
Deputies did question a man about the shooting but he was never considered a suspect.
Hudgens was taken to the Washington County Jail where he has been charged with attempted murder and deadly conduct.
