COACH MATT DEGGS LEAVING SHSU BASEBALL
Sam Houston State head baseball coach Matt Deggs has resigned to take the head coaching post at the University of Louisiana in Laffayette.
Deggs has been the head coach of the Bearkats since 2015, winning three conference titles, two conference tournaments and advancing to the 2017 Super Regional.
He will take over a Ragin’ Cajun program from longtime and beloved head coach Tony Robichaux, who died in late June following a heart attack. He had been the head coach for 25 years, winning over 900 games at the helm of the Ragin’ Cajuns.
A search for Deggs’ replacement will begin immediately.
