The Brenham Cubettes volleyball team will, hopefully, open the 2020 season Tuesday night, September 15 at home.
The schedule, which could still be changed by the time the season begins, has the Cubettes hosting Mayde Creek in the opener on the new floor at the Brenham High Gymnasium.
Under the schedule, altered drastically due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Cubettes would face nine opponents prior to the opening of district 19/5A play, September 29th at Waller. In a normal season, the Cubettes would play upwards of 30 non-district games and four weekend tournaments prior to the district opener.
Coach Debbie Yeager says the lack of pre-district tournaments will mean, "a lot more of competition in practices and many more competitive drills."
"They've done a good job of staying healthy during the off-season strength and conditioning. We've had great turnout through out summer conditioning...30-35 girls have been putting in time all summer. They've been very persistent of staying healthy, wearing the masks, cleaning their workout areas. They have to be."
Last season, the Cubettes were 34-16 and finished third in the district at 10-4.
