CZECH HERITAGE FESTIVAL AND MUZIKY FRIDAY, SATURDAY IN LA GRANGE
This weekend, the Czech Heritage and Cultural Center (TCHCC) in La Grange will host the annual Heritage Festival and Muziky.
A variety of activities observing Czech culture will take place tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday at the TCHCC complex, at 250 West Fairgrounds Road.
The festival will begin at 4 p.m. tomorrow afternoon with Oktoberfest on the Deck, in front of the main building. Czech style chicken and dumplings will be served at the Hanslik Banquet Hall at 5:30, with music from the Dujka Brothers at 6 p.m.
Saturday’s opening ceremonies kick off at 10 a.m. with a Taroky tournament, antique farm equipment and car shows, arts and crafts, children’s activities, and a Kolaće eating contest.
There will also be heritage demonstrations, featuring blacksmithing, corn shelling and grinding, a hay press, and the making of noodles, wine, sausage, and soaps.
Meanwhile, the Shiner Beer Stage in the La Grange Ford Hospoda (Beer Garden) will feature the music of the Praha Brothers Band and Round Top Brass Band from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The festivities will conclude with the annual performance of Muziky, Muziky at the Sanford Schmid Amphitheater from 7 to 9:30 p.m. A fireworks finale will round out the festival.
