HAMLIN WINS AFTER LONG DAY AT POCONO

Denny Hamlin dons a custom mask in an earlier win at Darlington Speedway.

Denny Hamlin built up a big lead and held off Kevin Harvick to with the Pocono 350, Sunday.

Hamlin stayed out on old tires to build up the lead, forcing Harvick to battle traffic late in the race.

The finish reversed the order of Saturday’s Pocono 325 race, which was part of an historic weekend at the Pennsylvania track.  Saturday, it was Harvick that beat Hamlin to the finish line.

It is the first time in NASCAR history that two Cup Series events were held on the same weekend at the same track.

Due to weather concerns, three races were held Sunday at the track.  The start of the Cup Series race was delayed due to weather concerns.

Chase Briscoe won the Xfinity series race, prior to the Cup event.  Brandon Jones kicked off the long day of racing with a victory in the Truck Series.

The Cup Series’ next race is next Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway at 3:00.  It will be part of an historic weekend, with the Indy Car GMR Grand Prix, Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
