MORE ALAMO ARTIFACTS TO BE PRESENTED

Singer Phil Collins is scheduled fortoday to return to the Alamo to bring his prized collection of Alamo artifacts to San Antonio to become a part of the biggest and best collection of Alamo artifacts ever assembled.

At 10am today, the fringed leather pouch Davy Crockett carried his musket balls in the day he fell at the Alamo will be one of the artifacts receiving its permanent home. The collection will be unloaded from a truck in crates and be placed in the Gallaher House on Houston St, under the direction of Collins himself and Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson, the state’s steward of the Alamo.

Collins’ Alamo collection includes invaluable artifacts like Jim Bowie’s legendary knife, and one of only four remaining rifles owned by Crockett, along with letters from William B Travis and other historical documents that shed insight on early Texas.

Texans are deeply indebted to Phil Collins,” Patterson said. “He is giving us back our heritage. Now these Texas treasures need a home where all can see them and study from them and learn how Texans won our liberty.
