TEXAS’ ANNUAL SALES TAX HOLIDAY FOR EMERGENCY PREP. THIS WEEKEND

This weekend will be a good time for Texas shoppers to complete their emergency kits, because the sales tax will be waived on many of those items.

This year’s Emergency Preparation Supplies Sales Tax Holiday is Saturday through Monday, April 27th through the 29th.

Among the items available with no sales tax are portable generators priced under $3,000, and hurricane shutters and emergency ladders under $300.  Items under $75 include radios, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, coolers and ice chests.

There is no limit on the number of eligible items one can buy during the tax holiday.  However, delivery fees are considered part of the sale price.

Purchases that do not qualify include vehicle batteries, camping equipment, chainsaws, and replacement parts for emergency supplies.
