TEXAS RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES FIRST-EVER SCHOLARSHIPS

  

 The Texas Renaissance Festival announced on Thursday that it will award three $1,500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors each year.

This is the first time ever for the festival to offer these scholarships, which is a continuation of the Texas Renaissance Festival's annual School Days program which awards ones student planning to major in the following categories:

Fine Arts

Education

History, English, or a foreign language

The scholarships will be available in the following counties including public, private, and homeschool students in the following counties: Harris, Montgomery, Walker, Grimes, Brazos, Washington, Austin, Waller, Burleson, Fort Bend, Brazoria, Galveston, Chambers, San Jacinto, and Liberty. Students who competed in any 2014 School Days Academic or Fine Arts Competition (excluding costume) are also qualified and invited to apply.

The School Days event takes place annually, this year slated to be November 3 and 4, and is designed to be age-appropriate for middle and high school students.

The activities will be educational and entertaining, including jousting knights, musicians, jesters and magicians, who perform on stages and in areas throughout the village. Students have the opportunity to learn dances, the art of ancient falconry and the history of arms and armors.

No alcohol or weapons will be sold at School Days.

The deadline to apply for this scholarship is April 1, 2015. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or eligible resident. Applications for each scholarship category can be found online at http://texrenfest.com/scholarship.
