GRIMES COUNTY JUSTICE CENTER RECOVERING FROM CHRISTMAS FLOODING

Repairs continue to be made to the Grimes County Justice Center after a busted pipe during the freezing Christmas temperatures leaked thousands of gallons of water in the building.

According to the Navasota Examiner, the leak was discovered by an employee of the Anderson Water Company, who was checking the meters.

Grimes County Judge Joe Fauth said that they had shut off all the water, while employees were gone for the holiday. However, the one area that they did not shut off the water was the fire suppression closet, and that is where the pipe broke.

The pipe pumped water at a rate of fifty gallons per minute into the facility, and officials estimate approximately 6,000 gallons flooded the Justice Center in a two-hour span.

A remediation company is working on the repairs, which are expected to take four to six weeks to complete.

Several offices are having to be relocated, while the work is ongoing.

Fauth posted on the Court House Facebook Page that the District Attorney’s Office has been moved to the Grimes County Courthouse Annex in Anderson.

The District Clerk’s Office has been moved to another area of the Justice Center.

The staff at the County Auditor’s Office are working from home.

Meanwhile, Veteran’s Administration, Human Resources, Tax Assessor-Collector, County Clerk, County Court At-Law, Commissioners Court, and the IT Departments are in their same offices.
