The Washington County Ladies Lions Club announced the recipients of its yearly awards at its meeting Monday, the first month of the new Lions Year.
Five Melvin Jones Fellowships were presented to Linda Oberhoff, Debra Leroy Wenckens, Peggy Kramer, Deloris Draehn, and Donna Clay. Each fellowship award represented a donation of $1,000 to the Lions Clubs International Foundation Diabetes project, and is the highest award in all Lions Clubs.
The Lion of the Year was awarded to Peggy Kramer, while Bette Tofel was named Rookie of the Year. These are the top two club awards for Washington County Ladies Lions.
Special awards for superior club support and success were given to Thresia Schlabach and Emily Bolenbarr. Perfect attendance pins were awarded to 24 members.
Outgoing officers were also presented a lapel pin.
