EMERGENCY CREWS RESPOND TO A PAIR OF TRUCK FIRES
Fayette County emergency crews responded to a pair of truck fires that occurred on Thursday.
According to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek, the Ledbetter Fire Department along with Deputy Seth Nagel responded to the first fire just before 11am on Highway 290 near Lehman Raymond Road.
Upon arrival, it was reported that a Penske box truck was fully engulfed in flames. The Carmine Fire Department was called in to assist the Ledbetter Firefighters at the scene.
A portion of the Highway 290 eastbound lane was closed off until they could get the blaze under control.
Korenek said that the fire started near the rear axle and tire. The truck was empty of contents and no injuries were reported.
The second fire was called in just after 1:30pm on Highway 71 eastbound near the community of West Point.
The La Grange Fire Department and Deputy Nagel were dispatched to the scene.
Once they arrived at the location, they discovered an 18-wheeler pulling a flatbed trailer that was loaded with pipe, and had flames coming from the rear front axle and tires.
The fire was quickly extinguished and there were no reported injuries.
