  1. Wow!!! How can everyone be so judgemental in this whole chaotic mess. Yes, the Mother that took the young men to have altercation is absolutely wrong and should be charged for more than inciting a riot. But numerous youth were only placed in this situation due to the mother’s so called plans for a surprise birthday party for her son and inviting them to her home. And let’s not forget that the so called victims here also started altercations a week prior as well at the HEB parking lot. As I was taught it takes two to tango. Yes this all has escalated out of control and the future’s of many young men are tarnished. Instead of us trying to judge and prosecute these young men because of them being athletes and students at BHS, why not come together and pray and support all young adults in our community. It seems us “grownups” are taking this to a whole new level with judgements, assumptions, and comments which is no better than what the young men have done. These boys need to understand that their is consequences for their actions and the choices that they make but at the same time it’s not too late for them hopefully with a support system this can be a learning experience for all and BRENHAM will never go through this again. Please pray for our community and our youth.

  2. There is two sides to every story! Sometimes humans have to learn the hard way. I am pretty sure the “victims” are not that innocent. People don’t get jumped for the fun of it. But like I said everyone makes mistakes some learn from them others don’t.

  3. What a shame! First and foremost, let’s thank God that the man assaulted is still alive but will have a long road to recovery! Second, I am a parent of boys but there is a difference between defending yourself and cowardly ganging up on someone with adult supervision involved! Third, the whole incident was filmed showing all parties involved which unfortunately is disturbing but great evidence! Fourth, I hope our school board, administrators & staff really think about their upcoming/present decisions for their punishments, you need to quit slapping their hands and take care of business! Last, we need a change in our own school system here…it’s been spiraling out of control for too long and so many have been looking the other way instead of addressing the problems! Parent be parents!

    1. It is a shame and this goes for both sides!!! With so many adults involved why wasn’t the sheriff’s department notified in a more timely fashion!! I truly believe these two families have history!!! Real parents are parents to all kids not just there own!!! A responsible parent has parental instincts!! At least one of these sets of parents or so called adults had to be aware of the trouble that was at hand!! So if they didn’t stop it they must have promoted it!! My only question is what was there motive!!(Both sides) What kind of parent see a hostile situation between adults and kids, and don’t call the police or do all they can to defuse the situation??? There’s always two sides to a story and in this case a third and that’s the truth!! The video will only show part of the truth not how this situation exculated into a brawl!! The way I see it the “adults” had to be an influence to the violence that took place!! My personal opinion is that nobody is completely innocent in this situation!! Everyone involved was guilty of ignorance!! I wish it was a charge for this!!! Both families involved should be facing the same charges!!! It’s hard to have a riot if there’s only one side there!!! What happened to walk away??? Or did someone try and couldn’t??? Was everyone a victim in the situation or did someone just play a better victim? Did the sheriff’s department investigate both sides?? Most riots have arrests made from both sides of the rioters!!! If the police weren’t involved until it was over then some how the law was taken into someone’s hands!!! I think both sides were the aggressors!!! Two people talking with no understanding is an argument!!! Someone had to recognize this!!! GROWN-UP CHILDREN!!!!

    2. The school district and its administrators are limited by the laws of the state. The strongest punishments BISD can provide are suspensions and placement at the disciplinary alternative campus for 20 days. You should contact your legislators if you are dissatisfied with the action they are permitted to take. The school district is increasingly called upon to serve the role parents should fulfill. BISD is making great strides toward improvement in all areas, but the high school will always be a reflection of the society in which we live. We, as a community, need to step in where we can and fill the gaps for students whose parents are failing them rather than repeatedly calling on the teachers and school personnel to be all things for the children of our community. Volunteer. Be the change you want to see. We are one Brenham, better together.

      1. Can they not be expelled! I don’t think any of the kids needs to be on a BISD campus again! Victim or not!

        1. They most likely cannot be expelled for this as it happened off campus. However, I’m sure they are no angels in school either. More heavy handed discipline is needed in our schools more than ever. From my experiences with three kids in the district, the children who misbehave run the school, including the middle school. From the time they are born, children learn from their environment. We are not doing any students favors by not using discipline and structure to redirect them. Teachers have so much to do without having to try to work around disruptive students.

        2. No, they can not be expelled. Even if the fighting happened on campus. Fighting results in a suspension, usually a few days, and then a 20-day placement at DAEP. Many of the students who are involved in these types incidences are part of the special services programs (formerly special education). When that is the case, the students committing the offenses are even more protected by the state because placing them at the alternative campus has to be done with all bases covered to ensure the placement does not violate any stipulations in their IEP (individual education plans). Everything the school district does is in accordance with the laws that govern the district according to the state. I reiterate, the lawmakers are the people who need to hear the public’s concern about discipline in schools.

          1. You are absolutely correct!! I have witnessed this exact thing happen. Many of the special services students are given a light tap on the back for disrupting the entire educational system in public schools. It is one thing to be a student in special services under the umbrella of BSSLC – (who sometimes behave with more intelligence) – and quite another to be a special service student who walks the streets every day, getting into all kinds of mischief and has the attitude of, “I can’t or won’t be held accountable for what I do, so I am going to disrupt as much and as long as I can.” SAD!!

  4. Folks are so quick to defend! Our kids are not always right in the choices they make! Get over it! The proof is in the pudding! Adults need to stop trying to make the wrong their kids do seem as if it’s okay. Praying for all of our kids…

    1. You are absolutely correct. This type of behavior is not accepted, civilized behavior. There is a wrong way and a right way. There are consequences for your choices! When these kids, young adults, and adults learn this, their lives will be better and more fulfilling.

  5. This is sad. No matter what occurred before this there are so many wrong things in this picture. Kids are just that not your buddy etc. Parents should not be encouraging violence and promoting it by taking them into harms way. With them going to another person’s property they could all have been shot and killed. Parents should teach our kids peace. Yes you protect yourself but do not go looking for trouble. The other disturbing things is she bails out but leaves her kids in jail. Well they are there because of you. They should have gotten out first. Please pray for these kids.

    1. Prayer is everything. Let’s make this bad thing to a good thing. Let it be an eye opener and bring you closer to God.

  6. I’m very surprised an J.P. Douglas Zwiener and him setting bail so high? The Eighth Amendment to the United States Constitution states: “Excessive bail shall not be required.

All bail is for is to have the person to show up for court.

    1. I agree with this comment. But these are just the issues we face in this country already. Until we educate ourselves, our children and community. Who will know.
I ask that God be with everyone in this situation.
There are many acting on a temporary emotion. Mastering self is a battle.

  7. Y’all can’t speak on something if y’all wasn’t there they are not bullies but if someone do something to them they are taught to defend themselves!!!! Teenagers gone be teenagers it don’t always have anything to do with the parents raising them if it was y’all kids y’all would help y’all kids too!!!

    1. So the kid that got jumped by these youth, did nothing, but him and his dad were jumped by 8-9 people? And I’m sorry, teenager’s are going to be teenager’s? Most teen’s I know don’t have a gang mentality and jump people like this.

    2. Your part of the problem with today’s youth! No respect for ppl! You don’t go around causing a riot!

    3. And this, Ladies and Gentlemen, is what’s wrong with America…Bad parenting, lack of morals, and poor judgment is being passed down from generation to generation.

    4. Nobody should take their children into a hostile and potentially deadly environment! Were you there and if so why didn’t you stop this nonsense especially if you are an Adult!

  8. Yes very sad. Kids need to be taught love by their parents, not violence. We should all pray for our youth. They are the future. We need to pray for Gods mercy on us, and the sinful humanity we are apart of.

  9. People your children are not your buddies! Raise them as your children with respect! These people could have been killed! This is really sad! Young people injured and young adults lives are ruined as a result because they couldn’t keep their hands to themselves! Wow

  10. Great job again, Washington County Law Enforcement. Not the Washington County I grew up in.
