WOMAN WHOSE ARREST LED TO BRENHAM P.D. OFFICER FIRING GETS PROBATION

An Austin woman whose arrest led to the firing of a Brenham Police Officer has been sentenced to probation.

Jammie Castillo
(Washington Co. Jail)

38-year old Jammie Victoria Castillo of Austin was placed on five years’ probation for Evading Arrest with a vehicle.

Judge Carson Campbell sentenced Castillo 10 years in prison- probated 5 years. She will also have to pay a $1,000 fine, court costs, court appointed attorney fee, $50 crime stoppers fee, and perform 150 hours community service hours.

Castillo's arrest led to the firing of  Brenham Police Officer Richard Bobbitt for use of excessive force.

Bobbitt attempted to stop Castillo's vehicle last July, but she fled- leading authorities on a high-speed chase that eventually ended near Houston when her tires were spiked by Harris County Sheriff’s Deputies.

Bobbitt was fired after an internal investigation determined he used excessive force when taking Castillo into custody at the end of the chase. The investigation determined Bobbitt struck her in the face several times.

Bobbitt appealed his firing, but withdrew it after a settlement allowed him to resign from his position instead. The incident remains under investigation by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.

  1. Yes she did put many innocent people at risk. The punishment is too light. BUT, it may be very safe to assume that she got probation as part of a deal not to sue the city.

  2. Unbelievable, I cannot believe they let her off this easy. I watched the entire video of that chase and she put so many people in danger including a lot of law enforcement officers. Once again we are let down by the DA’s office. This woman should be spending some time behind bars at the state prison.
