BRENHAM MAN TO HEAD TROUBLED NAVASOTA SCHOOL

  

There is a new principal at Navasota’ Intermediate School in 29-year old Todd Nelsonley.

The Navasota School Board hire the Brenham native at their last board meeting.  He will assume his duties at the intermediate schoo for the 2014-15 school year.

The move was made necessary because the school had repeatedly showed low performance levels for the past two years.  The Texas Education Agency ordered a re-constitution of the school   after two consecutive low performing rankings

The school is undergoing some major changes after Navasota School Supt. Rory Gesch had called on all the faculty and staff to re-apply for their jobs for the next school year.

Supt. Gesh sad that Nelsonley had all the characteristics of being a leader, as a classroom teacher and innovator.

Nelsonley  was recognized by the National School Board Association as one ’20 to Watch’  as an emerging leader in education.  He also served as the keynote speaker and presenter for numerous education technology leadership conferences.
