  1. Hate to say it. If I want to buy pot . All I have to do is drive go to Colorado. Buy it legally at one of many dispensaries. like the government don’t know

  2. Marijuana – by law is still illegal. It’s not up to the officer’s to decide if it’s illegal or not, that decision has been made a long time ago. If you are so correct on all of the benefits, and I’m not saying that there aren’t any; then go to the places where you need to get the law changed and present your case. Maybe it will be determined that what you say is correct and the law will be overturned. Get yourself and others that want to use it together, and get on a bus with the knowledge and travel the country selling the information. When it’s changed, then come back home and use all you want.

If a crook comes into your house, because you forgot to lock a door or window, and steals some (not all) or your stuff (small stuff that is), and you weren’t home, IS THAT OKAY??
It was only small stuff and you did leave the place unlocked. Maybe they took the stuff off of your front porch. THEY STOLE IT!!!!! IT’S STILL ILLEGAL TO STEAL!!!!!!!

If it was an old chair, does it matter? Oh wait, a new, and expensive chair, that you didn’t use……….you should get the point by now, stealing is illegal and marijuana is illegal. UNTIL SOMEONE CHANGES THE LAW!!!!!! Stop being stupid……..you won’t get the law changed by using more yourself, you get it by going through the process it takes to change a law.

    MAN!!!!!!!

  3. Because of ignorance about cannabis in this country, industrial hemp, which is cannabis, cannot be grown. Marijuana is a cannabis species with just a higher percentage of TCH. The U.S spends millions annually on hemp containing products but all the products are imported because hemp cannot be grown here. As a nurse I’ve read articles and watched documentaries on cannabis and know that it has medicinal properties. It has been shown to prevent or markedly decrease seizure activity in patients with uncontrollable or difficult to control seizure disorders. There are other medicinal uses as well. Making cannabis illegal only benefits other countries and US corporations, such as the private prison industry, pharmaceutical companies and the alcoholic beverage industry. Our law enforcement agencies should be pursuing the true criminals – murderers, thieves and sexual predators. We could better use our resources to treat people addicted to crack, meth, heroin and alcohol. It’s about time the laws against cannabis were overturned.

  4. I agree with you wake up. Maybe people need to actually do some research regarding marijuana and stop blindly being led by what others think. It is not the evil drug we are all told that it is. It has more medicinal benefits than some want to believe. We need to see more arrests of real criminals that are actually doing harm to others and less of people who are doing NO harm to anyone by indulging in marijuana!!!

    1. Marijuana contains more carcinogens than cigarettes. The very vocal few continue to spread the lies about how it is harmless. Lies and half-truths created by those who stand to make money from its legalization. Then the lemmings who want to stay high continue to spread those lies. Fatal car accidents involving marijuana doubled in one year in Washington state after legalizing the drug. It’s a life-destroyer and has no business in our town. I will fight to keep it illegal here. All the potheads can move to another state if you don’t like our laws.

      1. Can you please provide actual scientific or mathematical data and statistics proving your theory on fatal car accidents involving marijuana doubled in one year after legalizing the drug. And after you do this, please research how many people are killed annually by both marijuana and alcohol. To save you time, Marijuana has caused zero deaths to date. You can look up the death related statistics on your own time. My point is this, you will fight to keep marijuana illegal here in town. But i never see you standing outside of Specs, or the other local liquor stores protesting the legal sale of alcohol. Which by the way alcohol has destroyed more lives than almost any other drug on the market (also proven by actual statistics). So long story short mr. common sense, you are either a hypocrite or just fail to see the big picture. Alcohol has destroyed countless live and is the biggest gateway drug in this country. Wait until the November elections and you will be blown away when more states vote to legalize it. And as time goes on more and more states will do the same. You will be stuck there wondering if everybody is wrong. But in reality, you were wrong the entire time. I am not saying that marijuana is completely harmless. Anything can become addictive to individuals that struggle with dependecy. (people can even get addicted to fast food). The point is we live in a free country and if consuming cannabis in the privacy of your own home makes you a criminal then it is the laws that are wrong, not the individuals consuming cannabis.

  5. Law abiding and looking back: I disagree with both of you, not because I smoke the stuff but because I believe there is a much higher (no pun intended) and better use of local law enforcement officers time. In this citizen’s opinion, it is time for the local law to be patrolling the streets looking for real crime. I’ve seen several articles over the past month saying the local PD is investigating burglaries. Could these have been prevented if the officers were driving the area looking for burglars?? Maybe so, maybe not….we don’t know and we won’t know-because they weren’t. I am not faulting our local PD, I am just saying I think the brass may need to take a second look at what the highest and best use of the time their officers are spending on the beat.

I do agree that the law prohibits possession and use of this but I also believe that if it was my house or business being broken into, I’d much rather have the fine lawmen catching the burglar as opposed to some person smoking pot.

Brenham PD, WCSO and DPS are all outstanding but it may be time for a review on how time is spent on the street.

  6. A few more years of marijuana arrests of travelers coming to and thru Brenham, and we may get a reputation that drives folks and their sales tax dollars away. Similar to small speed trap towns on state highways. Like it or not, a large portion of population indulges in pot. Something for overburdened taxpayers to consider. If Houston arrested all pot smokers they stopped there would be no room for criminals in jails. Afterall sales tax revenue is down for 3 quarters and if it continues, our taxes will be increased again. Don’t expect the current council or commissioners to cut back spending like the rest of us must do.

    1. Break the law. Pay the price.
Our law enforcement do not judge, they ENFORCE the law.

    2. Looking ahead…..you ought to be looking back instead. Yep we need to look back and go back. And…..let these criminals do some hard time in jail and work for their stay. Yep. Bring back the pea farms. Make the criminals work. And …,, air condition cells ..,,that should not be an option..,, that is even more money that could be saved.

    3. The problem with Washington county is that most residents have lived their entire life brainwashed thinking marijuana is evil. Many people have no problem overindulging in alcohol. But can’t stand to think that a person should be allowed to consume cannabis at their home. These are the people who have ran our country into the ground. They think only about what they have been taught their entire life…not ever questioning if what they have been taught was actually a ploy to make pharmaceutical companies, tobacco companies and alcohol companies RICH. They can’t seem to understand that they have been lied to (including by our own government) in order to enrich others. Time to wake up like the the rest of the nation. Or get left behind. (And trump can’t save you)

      1. If you don’t like the Laws of the United States ..,,, then go find another country to live …..the sooner ….. the better.
