BRYAN MAN RECEIVES 40 YEARS FOR AGGRAVATED ROBBERY

A Bryan man received a 40 year prison sentence yesterday (Tuesday) in Brazos County after the aggravated robbery of a vehicle that occurred on December 10th, 2014. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Ryan Calvert.

According to the press release, Garcia approached the victim of the robbery who was in his vehicle outside of a convenience store on the 4400 block of College Main in Bryan.

Garcia attempted to open the door to the victim’s truck, and after he was unsuccessful, he fired two shots into the vehicle.

Both rounds struck the victim, at which point the victim opened the door to his truck and got out. Garcia took possession of the truck and drove away.

The vehicle was found the next morning without its stereo and several other items.

Garcia was arrested in San Antonio on Jan. 11, 2015. Garcia eventually admitted his role to the robbery. Sonya Martinez, an associate of Garcia’s was indicted in connection with the robbery, though her case is still pending.

Despite being shot twice, the victim did not suffer any serious or permanent damage.

Garcia was sentenced the maximum 10 years in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm, and two years for unlawful use of a motor vehicle. He must serve a minimum of 20 calendar years before becoming eligible for parole.
