COMMISSIONERS HIRE FIRMS FOR RURAL SEWAGE PROJECT

With the hiring of two firms the Washington County Commissioners at today’s (Tuesday’s) meeting, made it possible to proceed on using a $277,000 from the Texas Department of Agriculture that would allow some rural county residents connect to sewer lines.

The County Commissioners awarded a contract to Public Management Incorporated to manage the project and Jones and Carter of Brenham to do the engineering work.

County Judge John Brieden told the Commissioners that he and Precinct One County Commissioner Zeb Heckman worked together to find the best engineering firm.

The grant pays for establishing sewer lines for residents in the Alois Lane area, just outside of Brenham.  The land in that area can no longer take any more septic sewage.   This money comes from a Community Development Block Grant from the Texas Department of Agriculture.
