COUNTY DISTRIBUTES SCHOOL MONEY

The Washington County Commissioners distributed over $214,000 to the Brenham and Burton School districts at today’s (Tuesday’s) meeting.

This money comes from land the county owns in Tom Green County.  The county leases the land for various purposes and the proceeds are distributed to the county school systems, according to their school populations.

The Brenham school district will be getting $199,840 while the Burton district will receive $15,042.

Washington County Judge John Brieden said the county pays property taxes to Tom Green County, and this money is the net income from the land after that.
