CUBETTE SOFTBALL WINS GAME-1, 4-2

The Brenham Cubettes struck for three runs in the first inning and held on for a 4-2 win in their opening game of the Area round of the playoffs, Friday night at College Station.

Brenham loaded the bases with one out in the first of College Station ace Hailey Hudson (18-2).

Maddie Weatherly got the Cubettes on the board with an rbi-single.  Annie Cangelosi followed with another run-scoring base hit.  Brette Kohring drove in the third consecutive run for the Cubettes.

College Station cut the lead to 3-1 in the second, but the Cubettes got the run back with an rbi-double by Kohring in the third that scored Cangelosi.

The Cougars cut the lead to 4-2 with a run in the bottom of the third, but winning pitcher Meg Morris kept them at bay the rest of the way, yielding just six hits and striking out six.

The Cubettes can close out the series with a win Saturday afternoon.

Game-two begins at 3:00, with game-three to follow—if necessary.
