NAVASOTA WOMAN ARRESTED DURING BRENHAM TRAFFIC STOP

A Navasota woman faces a marijuana charge after a Thursday afternoon traffic stop in Brenham.

Just after 2:00 p.m. Cpl. Lance Weiss stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Kerr and Garrett streets.

As he spoke with the driver, he could smell marijuana.

27-year old Madison Nichole Atwell of Navasota admitted to having a “small amount” of marijuana in the car.

During a search of the vehicle, Weiss located a marijuana cigarette as well as three baggies of the drug.

Atwell was arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail.

  1. Another reason not to legalize that drug! There would be more drivers under influence and killing people! How utterly awful to legalize that drug in some states! Destroys lives and families! Seen it happen to many times!

    1. I’m sorry Christian you must be referring to that other legalized drug, alcohol!

      1. No I’m talking about marajuana! Yeah alcohol is definitely bad for under the influence! No argument there! But pot leads to other drugs when the high is over! I’ve witnessed this over and over and it destroys people! Never should legalize it!

      2. Agreed! Because I see alcohol ruin more lives than marijuana, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion even if its wrong.

    2. One more thing, I’m not saying that you should be able to driver under the influence of marijuana, it however IS a lot safer than driving under the influence of alcohol by a mile.

      1. I beg to differ. I read an article about a young man who jumped off a 4 story (ledge, balcony) to his death after eating a “pot cookie.” This drug is just as dangerous, sometimes more, than alcohol. Plus, we agree that alcohol, when consumed to excess, is dangerous, why would we want to legalize yet another mind altering substance for everyone (including our future, our kids) to have access to. I loathe the idea of my children doing drugs and we talk about it consistently. Marijuana is a dangerous drug and if it is legalized, it will be a legal dangerous drug. God bless our children and America.

        1. Yeah but everyone should know the facts before trying anything. He probably ate too much, just like people drink too much and did something stupid. He should be held liable for his own actions. Just because someone drank and drove into a ditch it doesn’t make alcohol any less legal. Incidents like this should be taken care of and judge on a situational basis. Marijuana can cure cancer, stop seizures and many other wonderful things. Don’t make haste decisions because of the way you were brought up or untruthful fears of the plant.
