ROTHERMEL CLEARS UP SPECIAL ELECTION CONFUSION

Washington County Clerk Beth Rothermel says her office has been getting inquiries about some people confused over the District-13 special election.

Rothermel says she’s been contacted by voters who claim they are getting multiple ballots by mail for the same election.

Rothermel says that while more than 685 voters have received ballots by mail for the May 5th Special Election, another 537 of those same voters have received a ballot for the separate Republican Primary Run-off, which has the same race on it.

Rothermel says this has confused some voters that are getting more than one ballot.  However, those voters are getting ballots for two different elections, even though they have the same race on both of them.

In addition, voters voting by mail in the Burton ISD election, are receiving an additional ballot.  Giving them as many as 3 ballots at one time.

Rothermel assures those voters that they are not duplicate, but are ballots for different elections.

Rorthermel reminds voters that they must return their ballot by mail – through the mail.  A ballot by mail can only be delivered in person on election day by the voter themselves with proper ID presented.
