SINGER-SONGWRITER DARDEN SMITH TO SPEAK AT ROTARY

  

Singer-Songwriter and Brenham native Darden Smith will speak at the Rotary Club of Washington County Thursday, January 15th at noon.

Smith has released fourteen critically acclaimed albums and toured extensively in the US and Europe.  He is also the founder and creative director of SongwritingWith:Soldiers, a non-profit organization that pairs professional songwriters with wounded soldiers to create songs based on the soldiers’ stories and their return home.

During a recent interview Smith proclaimed “Brenham was a great place to grow up, and the older I get, the more I recognized the importance of my youth in shaping who I am as an artist but also as a person”.  Smith’s latest album is Love Calling, released on Compass Records in 2013.

The public is invited to attend the event which begins at noon at the Cannery Kitchen, 314 East Alamo Street in Brenham.  Event attendees who desire to eat lunch should check-in at the Rotary table just inside the dining hall.  Cost for the buffet lunch is $10.00.
