TWO VEHICLE FIRES EXTINGUISHED IN FAYETTE CO. FRIDAY

Fayette County authorities were sent out to two separate vehicle fires Friday afternoon.

Dispatch received the first call around 1:50 p.m., reporting a vehicle fire on I-10 westbound, at the 678 mile marker close to the Colorado County line.

Sheriff’s deputies and the Schulenburg Fire Department arrived to find the engine compartment of a 1995 Cadillac fully engulfed.

The fire was quickly extinguished, and no injuries were reported.

Then around 5:30 p.m., a second 911 call alerted to an 18-wheeler fire on FM 2145, at the intersection of US Highway 77 near La Grange.

Deputies responded to the scene, along with the La Grange Fire Department.  They found the truck’s trailer had fire coming from the rear wheels, which was spreading to the trailer.

Units quickly extinguished the fire.  The driver of the truck reported no injuries.
